Sometimes I like to step into the shoes of a booking agent.
It’s the second time this year and hopefully not the last. I do it for friends and for myself. After a life spent traveling all over Italy and Europe in search of good music, I help musicians and artists that want to come to Puglia and Italy to present their music and play live, I want to listen to something that I’m sure I like, live versions of songs that I’ve enjoyed on records many times and new stuff too. It costs time and fatigue to organize a show, contact venues and trying not to be discouraged by negative answers or sudden unexpected changes.
There’s nothing better than live music.
Yesterday I’ve had the pleasure to finally see Painted Faces on a stage. He performed a lot of songs from Return To Vault Of Fear, the album that came out on my record label a few years ago. Keep On Rocking In The Freek World, Finding Love On Tinder (And Getting Ghosted), Macabre Breath Of The Creeper. It was great. David is really a great entertainer and a fantastic musician. He has been hanging around Europe for a few weeks before heading south together with Peopling and Harry Cloud.
And now that the tour is over, I’ve got two new friends.
Peopling really blew my mind and not only mine according to a few voices I’ve caught at the end of the show.
Harry Cloud was also great. He was not expected to play, he was a last minute addition to the program and a pleasant surprise.
And the people in Leverano, Renzo Durante and Simone Ombre and Mujmuné Renato. Their association Mujmuné Asuddinessunnord really rocks. If I lived in their neighborhood, I’ll spend a lot of my time with them. Their campaigns and events are amazing. I wish there were places like theirs in every city. The musicians and I have really felt at home .
The experience has been great and I’m ready to do it again and again.
