“Suddenly the duck said “qua-qua”. Oh, how funny that sound was, so lively and tender and funny! My face smiled and my dark seriousness disappeared.”
(Fabrizio Caramagna)
Almost Halloween Time Records is happy to present the first single taken from the forthcoming collaboration album between Weiland and Wio.
The musical connection between Tim and Wio dates back to the late 1990s when they became label mates on kraak (then (K-RAA-K)3). At the time, Tim was operating under the name Ovil Bianca, while Wio was making records with de portables and solo under the name, well, “Wio.”
Two decades later, around 2020, they began exchanging recordings, resulting in, for example, Tim’s contribution to Wio’s Brummagem Brilliance LP on Almost Halloween Records and the palindromic split tape droommoord / moorddroom on Gazer Tapes.
Weiland and Wio approach music from different angles. Tim creates with a passion for sound and experimentation, exploring the boundaries between musicality, drone, and noise. Wio, on the other hand, is first and foremost a songwriter who doesn’t shy away from a touch of mellowness and whimsiness. This record brings those two worlds together, both musicians challenging the other (and themselves) to explore new sonic terrains.
‘Verenigde Eenden Naties (United Duck Nations)’ is the title track of the forthcoming LP, released as a ‘short’ radio edit (the album track spans the full A side!).
‘Verenigde Eenden Naties (United Duck Nations)’ is named after an art project by Claire Stragier: https://clairestragier.be/verenigde-eenden-naties/
