Lovesong

The Cure released ‘Lovesong’, their second (UK) single from ‘Disintegration’ on Monday, August 21st, 1989, 35 years ago.

A few years ago I tried to reproduce the cover. I added a beard to the figure on the left in an attempt to make him look like Ed Nolbed.

On the song Robert Smith expressed himself like this: “I wrote “Lovesong” for Mary, my wife, as a wedding present, and I put it on the album to be kind of romantic. I thought it was the weakest song on there, and suddenly it went to Number Two in America. I thought, “Of all the songs I’d written, this is the one that kind that cracks through.” It was quite disappointing.”

I personally find it fantastic.

In the gallery of broken hearts there are three Cure records, all chosen by those who ordered a copy of “Breaking Up Is Never Easy I Know”.

Listen to Ed Nolbed’s ”Breaking Up Is Never Easy I Know”.
